Editing a dotspot in Final Cut Pro
Feeling creative? You can edit your dotspot in the same fashion as any other video media, once you've downloaded it to your computer. (If you just want to trim the ends of your dotspot, you can do this right on your phone with Looker 1.2!)
1. On the Info Screen for your dotspot, tap the save button.
This saves your dotspot to your iPhone's photo album, where regular videos and photos are stored.
2. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
3. Import your dotspot from your iPhone using Preview, Image Capture or iPhoto
4. Your dotspot is now available on your computer. In order to open it in Final Cut Pro, you’ll need to convert your video to MP4. We suggest MPEG streamclip, which is a free converter you can download online.
a) Download MPEG Streamclip for mac from this link
www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
b) Install by opening the file MPEG_Streamclip_1.9.3b7.dmg
c) Open MPGstreamclip.app (located in your applications folder)
d) In the tabs select “List,” and then click on “Batch List”
e) Click add files in the bottom right corner
f) Locate the files you want to convert and click “To Batch” in the bottom right corner.
g) Under “Please choose a tag, select “Export to MPEG-4" and click “Ok”
h) MPEG Streamclip will then ask you to select a location where you want the new/converted files to go.
i) The Exporter will open up a settings page. Generally the only setting you may have to adjust is Quality. Then click “To Batch”
j) Then click go
k) MPG Stream will let you know when converting is complete.
Now you are ready to edit your video in Final Cut Pro! Here’s how to go about it:
1) You must adjust settings of your sequence. Highlight sequence, go to tabs above, click “Sequence, then go below to settings
2) Adjust settings so that resolution is 822x144 for an iPhone 4 and 1370x240 for an iPhone 4S and click “ok.” You may have to adjust the Aspect Ratio to Custom before you can adjust the frame rate.
3) Import your files into the sequence.
4) Double click on file in the sequence.
5) In your viewer window, select “Motion Tab”
6) Change Scale to 100
7) In some cases, your video will have imported in a perpendicular view. If so, adjust Rotation to -90 (Pic 5)
8) Render your video and it will be ready for further edits.
9) When you're finished editing, export your dotspot as an MP4 or MOV file in one of the standard resolutions: 822px by 144px (iPhone 4), 1370px by 240px (iPhone 4S), or 1440px by 544px (Lucy S).
Note: Be sure that, along the way, you haven't altered any of the original properties of the video, such as pixel aspect ratio, distortion, zoom, etc. as this will alter the resolution and return an error during upload.
Be sure that your CODEC setting is AAC.
10) Log into your dotspots account: http://www.kogeto.com/dotspots/signin
11) Click the upload dotspot link.
12) Drag your dotspot onto the green upload button.
13) Fill in the title and description, then adjust the sharing and search options (if necessary).
14) Click finish upload. Repeat!
